Thu, 09 Jun 2011 09:48:00 -0700 How we do browser side caching using stompy/apacheMQ and javascript http://blog.iddhis.com/how-we-do-browser-side-caching-using-stompyap http://blog.iddhis.com/how-we-do-browser-side-caching-using-stompyap

In the new interface for closest.in, I am using a very interesting caching of sort in the front end, in this post I am going to describe how I achieved that which helped in reducing the page load time as well as server resource consumption significantly.

Problem was that we have big timeliness of user's updates, photos and day rolls in the user room page, which load each time user navigates back and through, which was significantly increasing the page load time.

We are using twisted/stompy/apache mq for the real time pushing of updates by both users of the room. So, all of the data that comes for user after one page load was actually available instantly in the javascript variables, but as we were not doing ajax based navigation, that data would vanish as soon as user clicks on some link for navigation.

I started with ajaxifying the urls. The url patterns earlier was like http://closest.in/connection/display/album/3745, which was needed to be converted into http://closest.in/connection/#/display/album/3745, since this was handled by django's url system and I didn't want to break the urls for users, to achieve this, I did some trick, we created a decorator for our django views which we call @declare_as_section_view, what it does is, it redirects all the views in the old format to the new format, hence even if someone deliberately writes the old url in the browser, it would be redirected to the new url, much like how twitter handles it's old and new urls.

Once django does it's part of redirecting to the new url, it was js's call to do the rest. We now had, ajaxified urls, so no more page loads hence, no more heavy sql queries each time user navigates and only part of page gets loaded. But wanted more, we wanted that no part of page is taken from server in user's session more than once. Since, everything is pushed real time in user's browser, there wasn't actually any need to ask the server, any part of page, more than once.

so, I needed to keep the data that is pushed in the browser persistent until user deliberately reloads the page. We have these six view/data types, which are shown to user and are pushed in the browser in real time. I created 6 objects, one for each of them, which would be used to store these content, throughout.

var timeline = new Object();
timeline.initial_data = '';Publish
timeline.new_content = '';

like the one above, each view is exactly loaded once and when it is loaded, it's content is stored in the initial_data variable and the new content that is pushed is added to the new_content variable of the same object each time, the next time user clicks on the same link, the initial_data and new_content is added, view is created and shown to user.

Preciously, we have 5 views, and with this technique, there can be at most view requests to the server for the page load data, no matter how many times user navigates from one view to another, after that there is no request to server, not even for a small portion of the page. So, that's a big improvement.

Most important part of code goes like this,

    try{
        var initial_data = displayAlbumView.album[album_id]['initial_data'];
    }
    catch(e){
        displayAlbumView.album[album_id] = new Array();
        displayAlbumView.album[album_id]['initial_data'] = '';
        displayAlbumView.album[album_id]['new_content'] = '';
        var initial_data = '';
    }
           if(initial_data!=''){

              $(".timeline-block").empty();
        $("<div>"+initial_data+"</div>").appendTo(".timeline-block");
         .......
         }

I am excited to share this with you, and would like to know what techniques you use to achieve similar thing.

Sun, 15 May 2011 13:36:53 -0700 Re-branding Iddhis.com to Closest.in http://blog.iddhis.com/re-branding-iddhiscom-to-closestin http://blog.iddhis.com/re-branding-iddhiscom-to-closestin

As we said in last post that there are some very important announcements coming, so  biggest of them is 'Iddhis.com' is being re-branded to 'Closest.In'

We have taken this step to, map the domain name with the idea and concept, it is very crucial for us to take this change. It also aligns with our improved vision for what we ultimately want it to be.

So, closest.in is the new home of Iddhis. With this change, we are also introducing, public profiles, which would highlight closest people in your life. And everyone on closest.in would get a unique url of their profile, like http://closest.in/shreekant would represent closest people in the life of shreekant.

Grab your unique closest.in url right now, before someone else takes it. For existing users, there is an option to make your profile public, when you do that, you can choose a unique username for your profile.

We request you to review your closest.in profile when you log in and choose a unique username as soon as possible. This will help us getting the traction and moving forward quickly.

We believe, everyone would like to have a closest.in profile to honor their close friends who have helped them in their life in many ways. Taking out 2 minutes to create a profile and share with world is the easiest thing one can do to express gratitude to close friends.

Along with this, we have also came up with a dashboard, where you would see an inbox of updates to you from your friends on Closest.in, make quick message and broadcast updates to all your friends. With this change, we are moving towards stability.

Closest.in now wants to have your love, we want it to be a community of people who value their close friends, by close friends, we mean those friends with whom we spend whole night talking, eating, singing and drinking. We are open to any idea, which will help in growing this community.

Starting today, we are launching a 'Weekly college contest' , which is meant to show off you closest.in profile. All you need to do is to create a 'closest.in' profile and share the url on facebook or twitter. Every week , we will choose on person from each college with highest number of likes and tweets of his or her profile in that week. Winners will be featured on our blog with photographs and will receive 'closest.in' t-shirt and stickers.

Also, there is community manager program, to be announced, very soon. We want you to help us build the 'closest.in' community in your college and area. This would also be a good way for you to meet interesting people, learn how to interact with people, how to get them excited about something and how to carry a vision. If this excites you, the program is for you, you can show your interest by commenting on this post, we will get back to you as soon as we have something materialized.

These, and many other exciting things are in the store of 'closest.in'. With your continuous support and feedback, we have come to this point, and will continue to grow. Keep helping us, we love you.

Let's start, spread the word.

Sat, 14 May 2011 01:57:00 -0700 Iterations, the bright and dark sides of the process. http://blog.iddhis.com/iterations http://blog.iddhis.com/iterations

Iddhis, so far has been very very experimental. From the day 1 to this day, hell lot of things have changed. We love making and breaking things, this is fun, this is a great learning process and this is painful too at times. On day one, we knew, things will change with time. While some of the changes and paths were chosen by us, some of the changes were dictated by users. There are many good things about this process and and there are some bad things about it as well. Good thing is, we learned a lot and we moved fast. Bad thing is, vision may lost in between somewhere. It needs to have a right balance between these two. We admit that we made some mistakes coming along, but we are determined to not to make same mistakes again. We have learned our lessons, the hard way.

Biggest lesson that we have learned from this process is, 'Keep it simple, stupid'. We can't emphasize that enough, but that is the only thing one should keep in mind, while making product for users.

Last 3-4 weeks were very very eventful for Iddhis. Many things happened, things which we never thought would happen, including good and bad. Lessons learned from this were, startups should always foresight things, and should expect everything to go bad, being optimistic doesn't help, unless you have done what is required to be done.

Another important thing that we have learned is, till now, we were working more like a code project and less like a startup. Startups are more than coding, we have almost ignored everything other than writing great code. Probably, we have written code that we may require after 6-9 months, that too only in  case things work out well. You just can't ignore other aspects of a startup, getting users, marketing, publicity, building great team, setting up a system, are all as important as coding. Because, we inherently love coding, it's relatively an easy thing to do for us, but we need to pick up hard things as well, in order to be called as a real startup. Time to do the change.

There are some very important announcements to come very soon, regarding our plans, our future and where we are heading. Every change is always done to reach the stability, hence is always good. We can't imagine how, we would have survived without all of you, in all this time of our learning. We are confident that we will make things better than before, with the upcoming changes.

Ameen

Wed, 04 May 2011 11:12:00 -0700 Sense of achievement http://blog.iddhis.com/51827436 http://blog.iddhis.com/51827436

One of the greatest feel in a startup is that, one moment you feel that you are going to conquer the world and the other moment you feel like you are doomed. This is an emotional roller coaster. With every feature you make, you feel as if it is complete now but then just few hours later, you find that there are tons of things still to be done. I have found that features are useless. So, I have stopped worrying about them, this bit is helping me a lot in coping with the startup life so far. In a startup, time scale is totally different, months are equivalent to days and days are equivalent to hours, so one week in a startup feels like a month, that means, if you delay something by 2 weeks, you are already 2 months behind. This is how a startup feels like.

Funny things happen sometimes, when I come up with some idea, which at that moment i believe that would change everything and paras reacts like :-o then there becomes silence for few minutes, paras looks closely and then suggests that it wouldn't work, I reacts like :-/ and then I would go back, think deeply and realize that it was indeed a crap and feels like :-[ and paras would then say :-P . That's a typical startup scene I guess.

The meaning of achievement is changing gradually for me. As a designer, earlier I used to be satisfied by making what I feel like is good. But that is useless. As a designer your aim should be, to be able to make the user do , what you want him to do. So a design is good, only if it calls for actions for things which it is supposed to do. So, now meaning of achievement for me, as a designer is not to complete the task, but to make users complete the task they are supposed to do. And as a whole, in a startup, the sense of achievement shouldn't be in completing the coding of that new feature, but to accomplish the goal , that new feature is made for. That is all which is important.

What do you think about these ideas ? I would like to know, do share.

Day ends for me here.

Mon, 02 May 2011 13:25:00 -0700 Thought process. http://blog.iddhis.com/thought-process http://blog.iddhis.com/thought-process

What I hate most is something breaking my thought process. It takes me really very long to fix it back. I have learned that it is very important to keep your mood good all the time or fix it as quickly as possible. In the past I have suffered badly because of bad mood and not trying to fix it. These days, it is even more important for me to keep myself unaffected by bad things. Your mood reflects in your work. Mood may look very unimportant thing at first, but trust me, it is so much important. I always want that my day should go good, I don't care about months or year, I just care about the day. And in a day, if I have a bad mood, it's already spoiled.

I am writing this blog post to fix my thought process, it got broke because of so many events today. I was into designing something when I left it and went to buy a new computer system,  it took longer than I thought, it rained, and then electricity cuts, so my 6 hours were wasted. But it's not those 6 hours which I am worried about, it's the time after that, in which I am not being able to do anything. I am not being able to resume my work from where I left and to fix this now, I am trying to do something different for some time, hence this blog post.

Another interesting thing that I observed about Bangalore, is that you can tell which day of week it is, just by looking at the traffic on road. Seriously, it feels like this city lives for weekends. Monday morning, you would see lots of energetic faces on road, malls and restaurant would be almost empty on a Monday evening. As the week moves forward, traffic at morning would look dull and traffic at nights would keep increasing. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Bangalore becomes a totally different city, you will not find a single restaurant empty, roads would be full of young people, couples, bikes, cars, it feels as if roads are lit up with some different kind of energy. It's so amusing to observe the week moving from Monday to Sunday here.

A couple of days back, we met a person, who runs a startup incubator program. My image of him was totally different from what I found him. I was surprised to find that how much he believes that no new things can beat the existing services and why we will never succeed. I was also disappointed by the way he made his points about startups. It made me realize that why it matters to do things and experience them, because without the real world experience you just make your own beliefs on the basis of what you see, which is totally useless. It was really a very interesting experience, and he also made some valid points, which made us think even harder. I am glad that we met him.

I signing off here for now. Good night folks.

Sun, 01 May 2011 10:41:00 -0700 Things and our experiences with them. http://blog.iddhis.com/51469635 http://blog.iddhis.com/51469635

During our college days, we used to go to movie theater almost every other friday. There was time when we went to theater during exams. We generally used to watch the last show ,9 to midnight. Bikaner is a small city, so there were always very few people who would come to theater that late, so it used to be like us booking the whole theater. Only problem with night shows is, if movie comes out to be a waste of time, you feel so dejected that the journey back to hostel would become very long. And for us, it was already around 15kms. We had to skip dinner at hostel the day we go to movie. But still it was so much fun. I used to believe that we all love movies so much, but I think it wasn't that true. Because it's been nine month since I left college and I have watched only 2 movies in all these months. So actually, movies used to be fun, because of friends. Without those friends movies couldn't be so much fun, at least not to the extent that you skip your dinner, go 15 kms and come back at midnight and fight with hostel guards to open the door. So it was all because of friends.

I realized that this thing is true not just for movies, but almost everything. We like certain things because of the experience attached with it, not because they are what they are.  I love old songs very much, only because my Nana used to listen to them at our farm house when I was child. So those memories are attached with these songs which make them so special for me. Sometimes we love certain things for no apparent reason and sometimes we hate certain things for no apparent reasons. I think, it's our experience with those things which makes us love or hate them.

To apply this thought to a web service, I think it is very important for a web service to create those good experiences for a user which make her love the product. If we inspect closely, the largest social network right now is so large and people use it so much, not because it do something magical, but only because there are so many friends of you over there. Your friends there make that service fun for you.

At Iddhis, we are learning and constantly applying our findings of what people like, what makes things fun and creating that good experience for you which make you love Iddhis. The pursuit is on.

Ameen.

Sat, 30 Apr 2011 10:51:58 -0700 Finding the alternative ways. http://blog.iddhis.com/51362228 http://blog.iddhis.com/51362228

I need to write this down here.

It's 10:30 pm and @paraskuhad is in bathroom, shaving his beard. That's kind of an unusual thing for a common man, but paras isn't so common. I am somewhat extremist, ever since I found mango shake here in Bangalore, I am having it thrice everyday almost.

Paras and me have opposite sleep cycles, I sleep very early and I am an early riser too, while paras sleeps almost at 3 am and wakes up at 11 am. Most of the time, we adjust our schedules such that, our combined uptime reaches around 22 hours. Apart from all other benefits of this routine, the biggest is , both of us get some free time for ourselves, when the other person is sleeping. For most part of the day, we both think together, live together, eat together, our problems are same, our joys are same, it's so much combined that sometimes it becomes tough to believe that the other person is thinking about something else. Hence, these 4-5 hours, in morning for me and in night for paras are real life saver and helps us a lot in keeping our thoughts fresh from each other to some extent, which is required.

Where we live here in Bangalore, there is a nice South Indian restaurent within little walking distance. We generally go there twice a day. There are two alternative roads to reach that restaurent from our home. For the first 3-4 months, we didn't know about the second way and for us, there was just one way which was crowdy, full of traffic, disturbance and those 10 minutes of walking through that road would exhaust us, break our thought process and would left us feeling bad. For me personally, it was one very unwanted walk. One day, we were just roaming around and found that there is another way, straight from that restaurent to our place, that way is full of trees, on both side of road, it's always dark there due to dense trees,  I love walking through this second way. This made me realize that there is always an another way, better way, all we need to do  is to look for it.

Bangalore is a very interesting city. One of the most surprising thing that we found was, there are no parallel roads here, guessing paths is very difficult. If you think that you can reach to the other parallel road by just getting into any middle road, you would reach somewhere else. We learned our lessons after getting lost 3-4 times.

I am now getting back to the thought process, I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing this.

Sat, 16 Apr 2011 13:03:00 -0700 Iddhis.com v2 launching today: Bringing one on one conversation to masses http://blog.iddhis.com/iddhiscom-v2-launching-today-bringing-one-on http://blog.iddhis.com/iddhiscom-v2-launching-today-bringing-one-on Iddhis is now better, bigger, improved and polished. To quote it, Iddhis v2 is a mainstream, alternative way to communicate and share with friends who really, really matter for you. Iddhis is private, one on one, network of friends, it's spam free, real time, small and  sacred.

Today, we are proudly announcing the version 2 of Iddhis.com . It's a big improvement from the previous version, in terms of idea, execution and design. Biggest development in this version of Iddhis is that, instead of just one person, you can now connect with more in signature Iddhis way, many one on one connections, which you can switch to, at anytime. It's private and yet social. It's an improved version of existing social networks, where friends are real friends.

We bow to everyone who is following Iddhis, using Iddhis, giving us feedback, appreciating, criticizing, reporting bugs, asking features, you people are really very special for us. You have given us power to go ahead and execute our ideas, thanks of having faith in us.

That said, here is a list of features and improvements in the Iddhis v2. We have been working constantly day and night to fix what went wrong and to find out what works, what you need and what is cool, here is what we have come up.

1. Connecting with your friends, one on one. Multiple connections in Iddhis allow you to connect with your close buddies, separately with each other. For each of your connection, there is a separate stream, timeline, profiles and everything is contextual, whether it's a profile pic or any notifications. In simpler words, it's like having a connection profile, instead of a user profile. Iddhis is such an intimate network of friends that whoever you make a connection with, owns the data that you share with him and similarly you own the data that he or she shares with you, hence, both of you can edit or delete or modify each others data. That's sense of friendship we are talking about where you trust your friend for everything. Iddhis connections are like friendships, as we all knew, before the social networking era.

Initially, there are 5 invitations per account. That means, you can invite 5 people to connect with you.

2.Real time conversations - Based on the real time data streaming and long polling over tcp, Iddhis is a real time web application. When you and your friend both are online, you would receive notifications, as they happen. Whether, it be a new comment, status update or a photo. With this kind of implementation, it gives an awesome User Experience as well as saves lots of server resources. We are just to excited with what we have implemented and are sure, this thing will blow your mind. Do experience this.

3.Complete UI and design revamp - user interface, layout and design is now extremely improved and follows design guidelines as well as best practices. We know support all major browsers, including IE7+. FF3.0+, Chrome, Safari and Opera. It is very important for us to serve all of our users efficiently and provide them the best user experience possible. We are continuously improving to make Iddhis available to everyone on each platform.

Browsing content is easier than ever, with endless scroll. Photo sharing is better and easy now, with stream of photos, all combined and per album basis and multiple file upload in browsers which support it.

Commenting is also improved. Comments would appear instantly, like real time chat. If you enable comment notifications on email, you can reply to an update by just reply to that notification email you receive.

4.Searching your content is also available now, you can search you older data per connection basis. Indexing is done real time.

5. Signing up process is also simplified and if anyone has a gmail or facebook account, he can use them to verify there email address. As we are using OAuth for authentication from these services. Inviting friends from your gmail contact list is also added to take the pain out of it.

With these and many more improvements beneath these, Iddhis is now smoother, faster and easier.

Now, we want you to point your browser to Iddhis.com, where the rest of fun is happening. World, here we come.

This post marks the arrival of Iddhis.com

Above lines describes the situation pretty well.

Hello everybody, I am Shree Kant, reporting from Iddhis base at Bangalore, and it's a beautiful *Monday* morning. Temperature outside is little bit higher than I would expect here in Bangalore, but inside, it's still pleasant. I am wired in, I have three tabs open, two of them are Iddhis, one on local server and the other one on remote server, I am just excited when we would launch the newer version. It's about time we do that.

Last month I was at home, working remotely. Had a much required break. Learned lessons of life. One important thing that I learned is the importance of 'accepting your ideas'. You should not take your ideas for granted. It's not that everyday you get ideas, it take really lots of things to come together and make the perfect recipe for ideas to cook. So always take your ideas handy and refine them, work on them as soon as they come. Because there will be a time when you will be short of ideas, then you would be working on the ideas you have previously generated.

I  was listening to a discourse from Osho, one thing he was saying that stroked me was, our perception of things make them what they look like. It's not that anyone other than you should be responsible for things in your life, whether good or bad. No one other than you can make or break things for you.

With this, I want to say that Iddhis is working on creating a better experience for you on web with continuous efforts, we will soon come up with more interesting stuff to show you off. Till then, get wired in.

Thu, 03 Feb 2011 00:02:02 -0800 Changing gears http://blog.iddhis.com/changing-gears http://blog.iddhis.com/changing-gears The kind of response we are receiving and the way we are getting
feedback is making me crazy. Though it's a moment with a little chaos
as lots of things are happening simultaneously, yet we love arranging
things. At first, it gives you immense pleasure when your work is in
production and people are looking into it, that's the source of zeal
and cannot be expressed in words.

I read and found it true :
Startups are painful, high moments are very high and down ones are very down
I would add :
Bringing up your best and making sophisticated things goes in vain
until it brings out some useful, so when we are living painful moments
we also need to make sure that it will bring out something useful
along with best of yours.
and secondly down time is a significant moment that exactly tells you
that you need to work more smartly and you are on the right curve that
is driving you towards next maxima, next means yet another next.

I would say I am living a dream as doing what you really want to do is
the biggest privilege you can get ever. I see a pattern, we confront
technical/non-technical challenges, there comes a time when you need
to stretch your mind for a boundary that seems so far away, then you
conquer it and slightly find yourself in your own comfort zone and
that's the right time to change your gears.
Lots of things are going on simultaneously, I am thankful to all
individuals, excited about us and I would say it's getting more
excited as we have already changed our gears.

Fri, 21 Jan 2011 07:10:28 -0800 How to get most of your Iddhis account? http://blog.iddhis.com/how-to-get-most-of-your-iddhis-account http://blog.iddhis.com/how-to-get-most-of-your-iddhis-account We are pumped by the awesome response we have received so far and especially in last few days. Lots of users  along with you are giving us feedback about what they loved and things they didn't in Iddhis. This is just awesome. Just keep them pouring in, we love to hear back from you.

We are writing this post to describe how you can use Iddhis to get most out of it. You would start getting maximum out of Iddhis as soon as you start sharing with your partner. We have a number of sharing items in Iddhis namely status update, day's summary, photos, poems, complaints and Haiku.

How Iddhis is different from any social network is, here you need not to think before you share as it's just you and your loved one. So open your heart and start sharing. Our users who are using Iddhis extensively has told us that since they have started using Iddhis their activities on other social networks have become exceptionally better as they don't feel the urge of updating their too often and too private things and hence escaping the useless anxiety of getting 'likes' and 'comments'.  That's kind of a win-win for everyone.

Here we are explaining features of Iddhis with a scenario. Let's move on.

Conversation at Iddhis starts generally with a short status update. You make an update. Iddhis send an email to your partner. Your partner then replies to that update by sending email to that notification or he/she logs into Iddhis to reply. From there on, Iddhis stores your conversation. Your partner makes an update then, you reply back and things start moving. While all this is happening, you are actually preserving these moments in Iddhis, to browse later.

Status updates are conversation starters, which then moves forward and gets more exciting when you share photos. You can quickly share photos from the link on the top right corner of status box. Use your webcam or upload a photo you clicked from your phone. Moving on, you create Photo albums, one each from your trip together, college life, parties and what not. The album view in Iddhis gives a smooth way to navigate through these photos, making comments on them and setting them as wallpaper or your display picture. And while you are on an album, Iddhis creates an activity to let your partner know so that he/she can also browse the same album, hence the conversation goes even further.

Later in the day, you want to know what your partner did during the day, you tell him/her to post a day's summary. As he/she shares a day's summary, you make comments on it, he/she replies and tells you to make day's summary too, this takes conversation even further. Imagine looking back these day's summaries few months later. Priceless, isn't it?

When you are on move and don't have access to a PC, you use Iddhis's email API, which let's you do everything you would do on Iddhis web interface. You are in a restaurant and you want to let your partner know this, make an update, by sending it to post@iddhis.com from your mobile phone. Whoa! Click a photo of the dish you are having and send it to post@iddhis.com , that goes right into your Iddhis account, your partner makes a comment on it, you get this comment on email, you comment back by replying to email and conversation kept going forward. Iddhis is a medium, use it the way you want.

While you are still in that restaurant, you forgot to wish 'a good day' to your partner, this made your partner write a complaint to you. You get an email notification. You need to do something to make him/her happy, buy a bouquet of flowers, click the pic and send to post@iddhis.com . Don't think that these 'flowers' are going to make him/her happy? then be more creative.

And the conversation goes on and on.

Sun, 16 Jan 2011 03:33:00 -0800 Because virtual world is complement to real world. http://blog.iddhis.com/you-are-wrong-virtual-world-is-complement-to http://blog.iddhis.com/you-are-wrong-virtual-world-is-complement-to

Every other day I am asked this question, why we need Iddhis? When there
are all other services around and certainly better at this stage, why
should anyone use Iddhis. I am writing this email to answer this
question and reason for why you should care about Iddhis.

Internet is an ocean, where information flows more freely than we could
imagine. See, I am sending this answer to almost 1000 people with just
this one email, effortlessly. Never, before in the history of human,
this had happened. I am fond of Internet. I have learned so much through
internet. It would have been impossible to live in the most remote part
of India, which is not even one tenth of of silicon valley in terms of
technical advancement and yet be at par with silicon valley and be
updated with all the happenings, if there were no internet. Internet is
simply a great tool.

Until the so called 'web 2.0' revolution happened, Internet was a medium
where a few 'publishers' would publish content and a large amount of
'audience' would consume that. That was actually a starting of a new
era. Then came this era of 'user generated' content. It was when
internet started to become part of of our lives. We started sharing our
lives over internet. We started getting connected to lots of people over
internet. We called it social networking over internet. Social
networking over internet is what mainly defined 'web 2.0'. Blogging was
another main thing happened to 'web 2.0', which was then followed by
'microblogging'. Clearly web 2.0 was all about our quest to 'express
ourselves' and connect with others. I see all of this, as a great evolution in human life. I don't think
that internet was created accidentally. It was due. It was bound to
happen to humans. Internet is something that humans has discovered in
the course of time, same as minerals or petroleum were discovered, same
as moon or mars were explored. Internet is similar to those discoveries.
Let me give one example of how we perceive things in our lives. If I
give you $10 note, you would consider it as real, and if I give your
similar $10 note on email you would consider it unreal. It's not that
the real $10 note is anything 'god' created and unreal $10 is that we
created, both are created by human. Only difference in these two is,
more people agree on real $10 to be useful and unreal $10 as useless.
Imagine when for first time someone had used a currency, most people
would have thought about it, same as we today think of $10 note on email
today. So, when more people agree on something, it becomes standard. With all this talk, I want to tell that virtual world is as real as this
world, and it's just matter of time that we will start believing in it
more and more. There is nothing like a virtual world and real world,
there is just one world, and these two are layers, one was discovered
earlier and other is being discovered now.

Virtual is real. Your online identity is as much you as you are in this
world. Your online assets, values, connections, impressions belongs to
you, believe it or not. Sooner or later the so called virtual world is
going to be more and more prominent part of our lives. And because of this , we should care about everything we do online. And
that's why Iddhis matters. Your relationship with someone very close to
you, in a virtual layer of the world should map your relationship with
him/her in the real layer of the world. And It should be done correctly.
Because only combining both layers makes your world complete. Don't see
Internet just a way to communicate and share, it's now more than that.
Internet is as integral to the world as everything else. If you are in
a good relationship with someone, you should have an online identity of
that relationship. Iddhis is one such medium for this, a lot to come in
future. When you are in close terms with someone. You tend to share a lot of
things with him/her. Emotions, moments, dreams and what not. But have
you ever thought only a little part of that is preserved ? Very little.
Because, the real layer of this world doesn't provide easy way to do
this. But to complement this, there is this virtual layer. Internet
makes it easy to preserve those moments. Iddhis uses internet as a
medium to do this. Imagine a real world Iddhis, would it be a shop or a
center? where you would go daily and deposit your photos, messages,
which you can later take back. Clearly such thing doesn't look feasible.
That's why virtual layer is chosen as a medium to do this. That's why
Iddhis exists.

I believe that everyone should have at least one Iddhis account or
similar, because if there is not a single person in your life with whom
you share those lot of things, you are living life little wrong.

Iddhis, as I said is one such medium which uses the virtual layer of the
world to help you preserve those memories of life, which in the real
world get fade quickly.

Sat, 15 Jan 2011 02:32:41 -0800 From a workout at Iddhis http://blog.iddhis.com/from-a-workout-at-iddhis http://blog.iddhis.com/from-a-workout-at-iddhis Ohh, ok guys we agree, it has been some days since our last blog post.

What's happening at Iddhis, I am very curious to tell you about everything, where we are into and where we are out.

I think it's better to talk with you, discussing one by one, step by step. So as per we are getting our feedbacks since our launch, people are loving the idea but simply they want more from us. We are going crazy as we are re-factorizing things.

Our ideas those were in airs, our technical problems those we solved, ups and down we confronted, things those we learned all are under our hood. At the very start team members don't have any fix roles, we work a lot, we experiment a lot, we try to visualize an amorphous idea, things like that. Getting system into working condition, getting into perfect design and facing all non-technical details, having a path to launch that is extremely chaotic, Iddhis conquered all of them.

So, things are very clear and manageable. We are working on better design, usability, user work flows,  also on our product development strategy. We believe that after launch we are coming into such pace that is equipped with all those conceptual theories for startups, case studies and most important we have known our own province, and it has become very important for us, after all we have to make something usable and beautiful. And finally, a startup is all about its team, of course we are building a team and team leaders.

Stay with us, there is lot more to share with you.
